# Pattern Relationships

Patterns are a graph, not a list. Each pattern names related
patterns, and the canonical narrative chain gives first-time readers
an anchor.

## Canonical narrative chain

The chain is descriptive. Many other paths through the graph are
legitimate. Reflection, Steward Transition, Return, and Departure
join the chain from the side.

## Invariants

- `relationshipsAreValid` — every reference resolves.
- `noSelfReferences` — a pattern never lists itself.
- `narrativeChainResolves` — the canonical chain lives inside the
  language.
